What it does

Give every project a place

Organise related tabs into groups so you can see what belongs together.

Ask Cove to group the tabs in your current window and it creates named, colour-coded Chrome tab groups. One click ungroups them again.

Put work aside without losing it

Save a session and return to its tabs when you are ready.

A session keeps every tab in the window. Restoring it opens those tabs in a new window. Snooze does the same for a single tab: it closes now and reopens at the time you pick.

Clear space for the task at hand

Keep the tabs you need in view and set the rest aside.

After 30 minutes without use, Cove suspends a background tab so Chrome can release it. The tab stays in your tab strip and reloads when you click it. You can change the time, exclude sites or switch this off. Pinned tabs and the tab you are on are left alone.

How it works

Open Cove from Chrome's toolbar.
Pin it from the puzzle-piece menu, or press Ctrl+Shift+K (Cmd+Shift+K on a Mac).

Group your current tabs or save them as a session.
Both work on the window you are in.

Return to that session when you need it.
It reopens in a new window, so your current work stays where it is.

Grouping uses an AI model to suggest the groups, and it only runs when you click Auto-group my tabs. It never runs in the background. Saving sessions, snoozing and suspending tabs all happen in Chrome on your computer.

Data and permissions

Your sessions, snoozed tabs and settings are stored by Chrome on your computer. Nothing is synced, and Cove has no account and no analytics.

When you click Auto-group my tabs, Cove sends the title (up to 120 characters) and the site name of each tab in that window to Cove's server, which asks an AI model provider to suggest groups. Full web addresses, page content and pinned tabs are not sent.

Availability

Cove is in development and is not yet on the Chrome Web Store. There is nothing to buy. The development build includes three AI groupings a week; saving sessions, snoozing and suspending tabs are not limited.

Cove is built for Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop computer. Other browsers have not been tested.

Cove is not on the Chrome Web Store yet, so for now it is available by request. Once it is installed, open Chrome's puzzle-piece menu and pin Cove to keep it in the toolbar. The help page has the steps.

Yes. Saving keeps every tab in the current window, under a name if you give one. Restoring opens those tabs in a new window. Cove keeps up to 100 sessions.

Only when you click Auto-group: for each tab in the window, its title (up to 120 characters), its site name and a tab number, plus a random identifier for your copy of Cove that is used to count the weekly limit. Full web addresses, page content and pinned tabs are not sent. More detail.
